How many units is 100 mcg on an insulin syringe?

It depends on your concentration (vial mg ÷ water mL). On a U-100 syringe: 5 mg + 1 mL → 2 units; 5 mg + 2 mL → 4 units; 5 mg + 3 mL → 6 units; 10 mg + 1 mL → 1 units; 10 mg + 2 mL → 2 units; 10 mg + 3 mL → 3 units. Formula: units = (100 × water mL) ÷ (vial mg × 10).

The math

units (U-100) = (mcg × water mL) ÷ (vial mg × 10)
5 mg + 1 mL → 2 units
5 mg + 2 mL → 4 units
5 mg + 3 mL → 6 units
10 mg + 1 mL → 1 units
10 mg + 2 mL → 2 units
10 mg + 3 mL → 3 units

= 0.1 mL · concentration 2.5 mg/mL (2500 mcg/mL) · 20 draws per vial
Concentration = 5 mg ÷ 2 mL = 2.5 mg/mL
Volume = 250 mcg ÷ 2500 mcg/mL = 0.1 mL
Units = 0.1 mL × 100 (U-100) = 10 units
