How do I convert syringe units back to mg?
Reverse the calculator: mL = units ÷ units-per-mL (100 for U-100), then mg = mL × concentration (vial mg ÷ water mL). Example: 20 U-100 units = 0.20 mL; at 5 mg in 2 mL (2.5 mg/mL) that is 0.5 mg (500 mcg). One line for U-100: mg = units × vial mg ÷ (water mL × 100).
The math
mL = units ÷ 100 (U-100) concentration = vial mg ÷ water mL mg = mL × concentration U-100 one line: mg = units × vial mg ÷ (water mL × 100) Example: 20 × 5 ÷ (2 × 100) = 0.5 mg
| U-100 units | mL | mg at 2.5 mg/mL | mg at 5 mg/mL |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | 0.05 | 0.125 | 0.25 |
| 10 | 0.1 | 0.25 | 0.5 |
| 20 | 0.2 | 0.5 | 1 |
| 25 | 0.25 | 0.625 | 1.25 |
| 50 | 0.5 | 1.25 | 2.5 |

= 0.1 mL · concentration 2.5 mg/mL (2500 mcg/mL) · 20 draws per vial
Concentration = 5 mg ÷ 2 mL = 2.5 mg/mL Volume = 250 mcg ÷ 2500 mcg/mL = 0.1 mL Units = 0.1 mL × 100 (U-100) = 10 units
